  2. God didn't promise
    days without pain
    laughter without sorrow
    or sun without rain.
    But God did promise
    strength for the day,
    comfort for the tears
and a light for the way,
    And for all who believe
    in His kingdom above,
    He answers their faith
    with everlasting love.

  3. The Mansion of Heaven

This world, however beautiful, was never meant to be
The place that we would call our home for all eternity.
And though we would not choose to leave, a loving God knows best,
And in His time, He lifts us to a place of peace and rest.

For He has built a mansion where His children will abide,
Free from pain and sorrow, forever at His side.
He said He'd never leave us to face our trials alone,
And though sometimes we fail Him, He never fails His own.

And even when our choices are less than He would ask,
He knows when human courage is unequal to the task.
We cannot judge what happens, though tears and questions start.
We only see what's visible--God sees into the heart.

And though there may be many things that we cannot explain,
We can be sure it breaks His heart to see His children's pain.
In loving arms, He bears us to a quiet place apart
Where He mends the wounded spirit and heals the broken heart.

And though these ones we love so much have left our present sight
And passed into a better world of majesty and light
Someday we'll be together in our Father's house above,
Where we'll thank Him for His mercy and praise Him for His love.

May He ease your hour of sorrow and surround you with His love,
And may it bring you strength to know Our Father's house above
Is a house of many mansions where His Son has set aside
Special places near Him for His loved ones to abide.

  4. Homesick (lyrics from the band Mercy Me, from their CD "Undone")

You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you
But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I'm still here so far away from home

I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
I've never been more homesick than now

In Christ, there are no goodbyes
And in Christ, there is no end
So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
    To see you again
    To see you again

And I close my eyes and I see your face
If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place
Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

  5. I Can Only Imagine (lyrics from the band Mercy Me)

    I can only imagine
    What it will be like
    When I walk
    By your side

    I can only imagine
    What my eyes will see
    When your face
    Is before me
    I can only imagine

    I can only imagine

    [Chorus:]
Surrounded by Your glory, what will my heart feel
Will I dance for you Jesus or in awe of you be still
Will I stand in your presence or to my knees will I fall
Will I sing hallelujah, will I be able to speak at all
    I can only imagine

    I can only imagine

    I can only imagine
    When that day comes
    And I find myself
    Standing in the Son

    I can only imagine
    When all I will do
    Is forever
    Forever worship You
    I can only imagine

    I can only imagine

    [Chorus]

    I can only imagine [x2]

    I can only imagine
    When all I will do
    Is forever, forever worship you

    I can only imagine

Thank you, Lord, that we know that Katie is safe with You. She will be forever missed and loved but we know we will see her again!! Give us strength and courage to live our lives on purpose, just as Katie did, and fill our lives with your peace and strength. In Jesus' name. Amen

  6. WITH HOPE - Steven Curtis Chapman

    Our beautiful Rosie,
This is not at all, how we thought it was supposed to be
We had to many plans for you, we had so many dreams
But now you've gone away, and left us with the memory of your smile
And nothing we can say, and nothing we can do
Can take away the pain, the pain of losing you

But we can cry with hope
We can say good-bye with hope
Cuz we know our good-bye is not the end, oh no
    We can grieve with hope
    Cuz we believe with hope
There's a place where we'll see your face again

Never have I known, anything so hard to understand
And never have I questioned more, the wisdom of God's plan
But through the cloud of tears
I hear the Father smile and say, "Well done"
And I imagine you, where you wanted most to be
Seeing all your dreams come true
Now you're home and now you're free

We have this hope as an anchor
    Cuz we believe that everything
God promised us is true, so ...

So we can cry with hope
    And say goodbye with hope

    We wait with hope
    And we ache with hope
    We hold on with hope
    We let go with hope

We love you Katie, and the only thing that brings us comfort is knowing that someday we WILL see you again, and hold you again...so until then, we let go with hope...
    Love,
    Auntie, Uncle, Park and Tee

  8. Our hearts are with you today. I can't imagine how difficult today will be for you. The pull on you is coming from two directions, I praise God that you have good friends to leave by Brent's side as you go celebrate your daughter's life. May you feel the very presence of God each and every day and may the prayers of many carry you through this difficult journey.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God." 2Cor.1:3-4

God is with you and comforting you, and through your faithfulness on this journey, He is and will comfort others. Your testimony of faith, hope and love is reaching many and working in hearts, drawing people to God's unfailing love. I praise God for your faithfulness during such a difficult journey.

Our love and prayers are with you. We pray for comfort, peace, and healing for each of you.

  9. We are inclined to believe there there are people all over this world! --certainly all over this country of Canada -- praying and pulling for Brent in every possible way. Many of our family and friends here in Ottawa and in Quebec and in Prince Edward Island and in Cape Breton Island know about this tragedy and of Brent's condition and are pulling for him and the family in every way possible! We are mindful of the memorial for Katie today and will be thinking of you all!
God Bless and Be With You! This day and every day.
With our love and prayers, Fran and Byron in Ottawa.

Praying also for your son, Brent. 16. The Cord
    We are connected,
    My child and I, by
    An invisible cord
    Not seen by the eye.

    It's not like the cord
    That connects us 'til birth
    This cord can't been seen
    By any on Earth.

    This cord does its work
    Right from the start.
    It binds us together
    Attached to my heart.

    I know that it's there
    Though no one can see
    The invisible cord
    From my child to me.

    The strength of this cord
    Is hard to describe.
    It can't be destroyed
    It can't be denied.

    It's stronger than any cord
    Man could create
    It withstands the test
    Can hold any weight.

    And though you are gone,
Though you're not here with me,
    The cord is still there
    But no one can see.

    It pulls at my heart
    I am bruised...I am sore,
But this cord is my lifeline
    As never before.

    I am thankful that God
    Connects us this way
    A mother and child
    Death can't take it away!

  21. Dear Scot and Carolyn
What a beautiful celebration of Katie's life. I want you to know that I am here for you. I wanted to give you a big hug last Friday, but there where so many people who wanted to see you. I guess my hug will have to wait, but my prayers are with you always. May you feel God's hugs daily, and may you feel his arms of strength surrounding you every moment.
