BRENT'S SITUATION NOT SO HOT

WARNING: PARENTS - IF YOUR TEENAGER OR CHILD IS FOLLOWING THIS BLOG, PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY ARE NOT ALONE WHEN THEY READ THE FOLLOWING ENTRY.

Brent is still doing about the same. Good news - the dialysis went very well. Bad news - Brent's blood pressure is not doing well or cooperating. It is becoming dangerously too high. Brent is still throwing up even though there is nothing more to throw up. His body is going through alot today.

Thank you for your comments and prayers. This Friday is a difficult day for the Peterson's. I think all parents can understand and relate to what I am saying - you want the absolute best for your children. The Peterson's are having moments of exhaustion and feeling somewhat helpless. Yet, Scot and Carolyn (Cary) are incredibly committed to their son and are at that hospital many hours a day. They are about to enter week seven of their new reality with Brent being in rough shape.

Let's continue to pray for and encourage this great family.

Keep hoping.Keep loving.Keep praying.

  2. I can not imagine going through everything you all have been through in the last two months. You are often in my thoughts and I will pray for you and Brent.

    You don't know me, but I heard about you through the choir director at Vanguard College in Edmonton (of which Tara Cameron is a member). The director is also the director of my church choir. Our choir prays for you on a regular basis as well.

    May God be your Source in this very difficult time.

  9. Scot and Carolyn,
    Thinking about you a lot and praying a lot. Renewed strength and renewed perserverance and increased grace for you and healing for Brent - always healing for Brent. I just was cruising thru the blog and saw the pic of Brent hanging on the tree - he looks like a spectacular kid with a lot of spunk.

    You are in our thoughts everyday. I ask Stephanie to read the updates to me everyday. I pray to God to make you whole again Brent as he did the day he gifted you to this world. Stephanie knows you are strong Brent and will use your strength to recover in small steps with helping hands. Stephanie is waiting for the day when you are strong enough for her to come and visit you. You both graduated grade 8 together and Stephanie is looking forward to graduating grade 12 with you. We give thanks for your fighting spirit and ask you to continue, we know you can do it.
    Caroline and Scott, I say thank you to you both for believing in Brents strength and fighting spirit and the personal strength you both have. Our hearts and prayers are with you.

  18. Still praying. We can't understand what God allows and doesn't allow... I am confident He is good even when it doen't make sense. I am confident He loves you and Brent more than we understand. I am confident that God will uphold you no matter what comes up day by day as you sit with your son. My confidence in the Lord is strengthened as I pray for you. May we build confidence in the Lord through this that He will love, heal, and restore! Amen.

  29. Not a moment goes by that I don't think of you and pray that God is working out His purposes for all of you. I read the comments in here and am overwhelmed by the lives you have touched and by the prayer that is continuously being raised. God hears and His heart aches with you.

    I am just one of thousands but I will keep praying for His grace and peace to fill your heart and mind.

    Brent, you have been a part of our lives since the day you were born and we love you. Keep looking to Jesus; He is with you always.

  30. This is the perfect weekend for a miracle. We continue to pray many times throughout the day for your family. We add our voices to the many, many people that are petitioning God on behalf of Brent, Scot and Cary. We are believing, hoping, praying and loving.
    It is an amazing age when we are able to receive updates so regularly. We are thankful to know how to pray specifically.

  31. Bub,
    Auntie can't sleep, so I pray. And I pray. And I pray. Never have I prayed more fervently or with such aching in my heart for God's healing touch. And Papa, I'm praying for you, too. You are not forgotten in all of this. Our family needs God's miraculous healing and I cry out to God in these midnight hours for his mercy. Just like in the Old Testament where he added on to the years of Hezekiah. Hezekiah's days were numbered, but God, in His mercy, heard Hezekiah's prayer and added on to the years of his life. I'm no Old Testament scholar, but it would seem the God actually "changed His mind." So I don't know what God's plans are in all of this, but I plead with Him. And I say, "God, with so many people turning their backs on You, You see how Brent has faithfully served you (and Dad, too), and would you please, in your infinite mercy and grace, hear our cries and extend Your healing hands to our family? We will love you and serve You no matter what...but, still, we ask..and we hope...and we wait..."
    Auntie loves you, Brent. You are a very special boy to so many people: aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, classmates, your parents and grandparents, friends of the family, friends of friends, and judging by this blog, even to hundreds of strangers...
    I continue to pray for your parents, that they might have rest, peace, strength, and renewed hope.
    I continue to pray for your doctors and nurses, that God would direct them and they might have wisdom and knowledge.
    I pray that you have a comfortable sleep tonight and that Jesus will minister to you as you're resting.
    All my love. Always.

  33. There's a song we sing in church that comes to mind right now..."I cry out, for your hand of mercy to heal me, oh I am weak, I need your love to free me, oh Lord, my rock, my strength in weakness, come rescue me oh Lord. You are my rock, your promise never fails me, and my desire is to follow you forever, for you are good, for you are good, for you are good to me, for you are good, for you are good, for you are good to me..." God, please rescue Brent from his injuries. Please heal him the way we want him to be healed ...so that his family and friends can be with him many more years here on earth. We don't understand, Lord, but we stand on your promises and we stand firm on you, our neverfailing Rock, no matter what. I thank you for sparing Scot and Carolyn and Brent in this terrible accident that occurred. Please heal Brent up for them.
    Prayerfully, Natalie D.

  34. Praying for a good report today. Yes, you are even special to all of us strangers...of which my family represents 8 of them, as well as the numerous people we have asked to pray for you. I am blessed as I see this outpouring for your family!!! We did not have the technology available for updates when we went through our trial,as the internet was just beginning to really explode back then, but to my knowledge, the general public didn't have things like blogs and so I am amazed and reminded of our own circumstances and the outpouring that we ourselves received, and I know that heaven is being bombarded with petitions and if we could literally hear the cries going up for you, I believe that we could all hear a sweet song if we all went outside and just listened carefully. We will not stop praying for you!! Your family has become a daily conversation and prayer. We are strangers yet we feel close to you because of our mutual faith in Christ and the bond of being parents and desiring God's healing touch in your son. As Janelle wrote above...this weekend is a perfect time for a miracle...we walk forward today, continuing to believe God for the miracle for Brent!!! Today is a new day filled with hope and promise.

    Lamentations 3:22-24 (New International Version)

    22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.

    23 They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

    24 I say to myself, "The LORD is my portion;
    therefore I will wait for him."

    Lord, Your mercies are new every morning!! We wait for You today to show your mercy and grace to this precious family. Place Your healing hand on Brent and calm his parents' hearts. Give them a day of hope and healing and ease their fears. Thank you Lord for Your unfailing love and for hearing our prayers. In Jesus' Name, Amen. With our love and continued prayer, the Dyck Family
