PRAYER ALERT FOR BRENT NUMBER THREE

Hi everyone. Some unfortunate news today:
  • Brent actually had four seizures last night
  • He is on medication for the seizures
  • the medical staff are not sure yet what the cause is for the seizures
  • He is back in ICU at Regina General and listed in critical condition
  • Brent's back in bothering him in a big way
  • Brent is in excruciating pain
  • His back is very painful and he's having a hard time coping with it
  • the CT scan revealed there is a leak in the aorta
  • the medical staff are discussing options for the action plan for Brent

The blog responses you are writing are being read to Brent to encourage and give him hope. Brently feels very loved and special after some of the responses were read to him. Your comments touch him in a huge way.

A parent will do anything to make sure their child is protected and living a healthy life. This situation brings a sense of helplessness to Scot and Carolyn (Cary). Today, Brent said to his Dad, "I love you." Scot is doing his best to remain strong in front of Brent, but today it was too much watching his son in so much pain. Scot became emotional and said to Brent, "I'm sorry Brent." Scot letting Brent know that he wish he could do something to take away his pain. Scot told him, "We're going to get through this Brent." Our God is sovereign - we don't understand the situation, but we understand that the Heavenly Father is in control and with all of us.

Please continue to reach out to this family with your prayers and words of encouragement on this blog.

Keep hoping.Keep loving.Keep praying.

  2. So sorry to hear of this setback - we will pray that God will help the doctors find the source of the problem and fix it. We are praying for strenth for you, Scot and Car. God is indeed in control; unfortunately our finite minds cannot always understand His ways.

    "I prayed to the Lord and He answered me.
    He freed me from all my fears.
    In my desparation I prayed, and the Lord listened, He saved me from all my troubles.
    For the angel of the Lord is a guard;
    He surrounds and defends all who fear Him.
    The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;
    His ears are open to their cries for help.
    The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;
    He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
    The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time."
    (Taken from Psalm 34 NLT)

    We are still hoping, still loving, still praying.

  3. Sorry to hear of this setback. Brent, you are being prayed for all over the world. We are all reading the blog and praying for you every day. We do not even know you, but have closed every evening reading the blog and praying as a family for you and your family. Keep the faith. There is a plan far wider than you, Katie and your parents. The Lord has used your accident to put more people on their knees all over the globe than any other prayer request I can think of. Even the Christian radio stations have broadcast these requests. God is using you in a painful....but mighty way. Be assured you are loved and supported. You have a whole range of 'new friends' in Christ who are looking forward to meeting you.
    Continuing to pray for complete healing, peace in the journey and wisdom for the doctors treating you. Rest in Him, Scot and Cary. Blessings to Katie with Jesus.

    I pray now for Brent and his parents. Father help them through this as you did in the past. Take care of this family,God for they are so precious to everyone who knows them and loves them just as YOU do and for us people that don't know the family, let it be known to them how they have touched our lives in so many ways. They have brought us closer to You in prayer. God let them feel your presence so that they will be comforted by You. I pray for Brent's complete healing. May you lay your hands upon him and take away his pain. Father I pray these things in the awesome name of Jesus

    Though the fig tree may not blossom,
    Nor fruit be on the vines,
    Though the labor of the olive may fail,
    And the fields yield no food;
    Though the flock be cut off from the fold,
    And there be no herd in the stalls-

    Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
    I will joy in the God of my Salvation.

    The Lord God is my strenght;
    He will make my feet like deer's feet
    And he will make me walk on the high hills.

    Brent, God is not through with you yet. He has great plans for you and I know that one day your testimony of healing and Gods faithfullness will give Him all the Glory. Hang on - Jesus is right there with you. he will not leave you or forsake you.

  30. You are all on my heart...nothing comes to mind as far as words of encouragement other than to tell you, Brent, that you are thought of and prayed for continually and we pray for these setbacks to be resolved so that you can continue your healing journey to complete recovery. Scot and Cary...I can only guess as to the weight that these concerns are to your hearts and I pray that you would be carried by angels through these moments of fear and doubt and that you would cast your cares completely on Christ, for He cares for you more than any of us can!! I wanted to paste Psalm 91 here, but please read it if you are able, as this is my prayer tonight for you all. God bless you all! Much love to you all, Laura and Randy Dyck

  35. Never give up!!!!! Never, never, never! GOd's promises are all so very true. He will never leave us or forsake us.
    A song kept coming to my head for you the last few days. I hesitated to put it on here yesterday because I thought, this song isn't filled with things that are going to help Brent and Scot and Cary be lifted up and encouraged and hopeful, but you know the more I sing it to myself, it talks of how amazing God is and that in itself is enough to make us fight and push forward towards the final goal. Sing praises to Him whether in your spirit or with your voice and those praises clear out all confusion and help push aside the pain. Brent I am so sorry that you are in pain. We are praying for wisdom for the doctors and not just earthly wisdom that man can teach but supernatural wisdom that there is no doubt that it came from heaven above. God did that for me. I was in hospital with a tumor in my uterus when i was 21. I was hemorraging and the doctors were talking about doing a hysterectomy. This tumor was unlike anything they personally had dealt with before. I so badly wanted to have children. All my life that was all I wanted to do, be a mommy. It had been my dream and hope for my life. I had already had two miscarriages and now they were saying they were going to take away my ability to have children. God brought a christian, faith filled doctor onto the scene. He conferenced with dr's across canada and they all told him to do a hysterectomy or I was going to bleed to death. My dr prayed about it and decided a course of action to take which did not include a hysterectomy and today, I have 3 beautiful children. We have 3 babies in heaven and 3 on earth and you know, I have always said that I lost 3 babies but I didn't lose them. I know exactly where they are and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I will see them again and get to hold them in my arms at last. I believe that in the same way that God gave my doctor wisdom for me, God can give your doctor wisdom that is very specific to you in your situation. It is so hard as a parent to be in that helpless state watching your child be in pain. When we are at our weakest, God can work the best because that is when we totally give Him the reigns andas hard as it sometimes is to leave our children there, in His arms and care are the best place for them to be. I know that you guys know that already....and now that I have rambled on and on when all I meant to do was leave a song for you, It is called Revelation song by Kari Jobe. The site is not letting me copy and paste the lyrics so if you google it, you can hear it. Love you guys.

  37. My heart is heavy for you, Brent, Scot and Cary. This is certainly not the path you thought your life would take, and yet here you are on this journey that you have no control over and you can't see the "map" to know what is coming next. I pray that the doctors will have gain supernatural insight into your case, Brent, and that you will have peace and rest and No pain! It is so wonderful that you are able to talk to your parents and tell them that you love them. It makes me realize how much we take for granted, everyday. Your journey has put so many people on their knees. If only you could see the prayers flying to heaven on your behalf.... I think it would look like upside down fireworks. (which would look pretty cool...I think) Scot and Cary...I pray that your incredible strength will be sustained. Peace and rest, new every morning, and lasting all day long.
    Our family continues to pray for each of you by name throughout the day. I pray that you will be all eating ice cream again soon.
