Well, Brent is having a great day. Oxygen level has come down some more (now at 30 %), the dialysis is doing what it should be doing and Brent is moving his arms/hands more. Brently loves having his parents around.
Together....Scot, Carolyn (Cary) and Brent are fighting this great challenge
Together....Scot and Carolyn (Cary) are healing and becoming stronger.
Together....the community is coming together and learning great lessons.
Together....everyone is appreciating the value of life.
Here's some of the goals over the next few days/weeks:
- They're guiding Brent to be more active during the day so he can have better sleep at night
- They will guide Brent through exercises (with arms, legs) that he can do
- They will be playing movies to keep his mind active
- Eventually trying to get Brent to communicate with a laptop
One of the most difficult tasks is expected to happen sooner than expected. Brent will be coming more alert during the daytime. This will lead to Brent eventually asking questions about Katie. Together, Scot and Carolyn (Cary) are discussing how to break the news to Brent. It is very possible that it could happen this week. Together, this will allow the three of them to come closer as a family unit.
Years ago today one of the most important and greatest miracles happened - the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Today, the Peterson family experienced some more small miracles occurring before their eyes.
Together...let's keep praying for greater miracles for Brent.
Keep hoping.Keep loving.Keep praying.
Scot and Cary we are beleiving for a miracle and its slowly happening and this news today is amazing to hear. We will keep praying and believing for for full healing for the little man brent.

What a blessing it is for this family that you are taking the time to post on this blog Rev. Clark. I am a friend of Sara and Jhon and have been following the blog for a few days now simce i have become aware of it. It reminds me to pray constantly for Brent and his family and I am so encouraged to hear that he is improving, that God is answering our prayers. The internet is wonderful as I am in Panama. I feel so far away and yet so close.
ReplyDeleteTo you Scot and Carolyn I say that it is a blessing that you can even have the conversation about Katie with Brent however difficult it is. It is a miracle that he is becoming strong enough and well enough to comprehend it and I pray that God will give you the words to say when the time comes. Perhaps it will encourage Brent to fight even more one never knows....Rose
So wonderful to hear such great news!We continue to pray...when the time comes for you to talk to Brent about Katie we pray for strength. Brent you are doing awesome, one baby step at a time.

I wish you humor and a twinkle in the eye. I wish you glory and the strength to bear its burdens. I wish you sunshine on your path and storms to season your journey. I wish you peace - in the world in which you live and in the smallest corner of the heart where truth is kept.. More I cannot wish you -- except perhaps love -- to make all the rest worthwhile.

I cried as I read the above post. This is a truly amazing miracle and I am blessed to be witness to it!!! We will continue praying for healing as you take these wonderful steps together and we pray for the moment that you tell Brent of Katie. Would it be comforting to him if someone close to you (are there any 'scrapbookers' out there??!!) put some mementos of her memorial in a scrapbook for him to look at when the time comes...giving him something positive and tangible to hold onto when he needs to look as he processes his own grief??!! Are there pictures of him in hospital/the accident that someone might put together for the family to help put the pieces together for him as he asks the tough questions?? Could this blog and the accompanying photos (and more?) be put in scrapbook form?? Maybe someone from the family or friends are already doing that?? This may not be what you or he needs, but is just a suggestion that pops into my head as I write. There is much that Brent has missed and in time, I imagine he will want answers, possibly a scrapbook, a video of Katie's funeral...something personal that would bless the family??!! This blog itself and the updates that Pastor Rob is documenting is priceless and will give Scot, Cary and Brent a beautiful timeline of the events that have happened day by day, as well as the amazing answers to prayer along the way as Brent has fought the battle to heal. Surely God's healing touch is evident to all and even the medical staff are witnessing an amazing miracle and the testimony of Christ that they see lived out in Scot and Cary as they care for Brent. We know that the strength that they have is not their own strength, but a strength that God has provided them moment by moment as they have faced each new challenge. I heard that they had injuries of their own in the accident, a distraction for them at best as they have sat vigil by Brent through these weeks...nearly 2 months!...and while I don't know to what extent, I know that they must still be healing physically as well. We thank God with you for the amazing strength He has given you both. We thank Him for giving you rest and that even over the past few days as you have come through another frightening time, He has blessed you with more answers to prayer and renewed hope and peace. To God be the glory!!! We continue to stand with you in prayer, and to stand in awe of God's miraculous healing touch that is so evident!!! Seeing what God is doing in your lives and the strength He is giving you gives us all hope and courage as we face our own struggles in life and encourages us to keep moving forward in the face of our own challenges. Thank You, Lord!!! Sincerely, The Dyck Family

ReplyDeleteEven this week - as you anticipate sharing your sorrow over Katie with Brent, please know that the word of encouragement God gave to Joshua, is for you also: "Be strong & courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you!"
Praying today that God would give you wisdom and discernment for this difficult task ahead, and that He would continue to work out His complete healing in your family.
Reta S.
Thanks for the update. We wait all day for it, praying fervently for Brent.
ReplyDeleteMany challenges lay ahead. The difficulty of what you have lived through can not be put into words. God has used your family to teach ours to appreciate each other far more. He has used you to bring us all together in prayer like never before. He has used you as an example to our church body of what 'waiting on the Lord' means. HE HAS USED YOU.
May you experience His peace in a plan far wider than your family. So sad for your loss. Praying every day for strength for you all, healing for Brent, blessings on Katie in heaven....and trusting that His plan is perfect. Please know you are supported and loved.

In Jesus' name, we come together in agreement with your prayers for your precious son Brent. Our God is the One who made him, He is the One who loves Brent with an everlasting love and He is the Great Physician who can do much more than we can ever think of or imagine. Brent's healing is in His capable hands.
ReplyDeleteO Lord, lift our eyes to You and grant the requests of Scot & Carolyn for their son Brent. And comfort them with Your presence and perfect peace as they grieve the loss of their daughter Katie.
