BABY STEPS FORWARD

Brent came out of surgery around 7:45 p.m. The best way to describe what is going on is Brent is taking baby steps forward in the right direction. His condition is still critical and every surgery has it's risks. Let's keep hoping for the best. Here's what happened today:

  • the surgery went very well
  • during the surgery they noticed all the vital organs are working well (aorta, heart, lungs and the bowel)
  • they removed the dead skin from the back incision and there was no infection there
  • today there is optimism that Brent is heading in the right direction for healing
  • the doctor is happy that the new sedation medicine is effective and helping Brent to heal
  • in other parts of his body there is still infection - let us hope that the infection will be gone soon

Today there are some answers to prayer in the healing of Brent. There is much progression in Brent's healing journey compared to yesterday. Let us all remain steadfast in our prayers.

We love Brent and we want him to come out of the hospital real fast. The reality is Brent's healing journey is going to take some time. This journey is going to help us all grow in our faith and patience. Keep believing for all the miracles to happen in Brent's life.

Scot and Carolyn (Cary) say a great big heartfelt thank you.

  1. Scot & Carolyn, I thank God that Brent's insides are starting to heal and work well. That he is resting well and everyone's prayers are helping. I can't forget the words from the poem "Footprints in the sand" where the man is looking back at his life with God and sees that during the most difficult times in his life there is only one set of footprints in the sand and asks God "Why is it during the most difficult times of my life you abandond me"
To which God replied "When you see only one set of footprints that was when I carried you"
God is carrying Brent and both of you. He will not leave you and will see you through this difficult time.
    Love always,
Drew, Sheila, Justine, Kyle and Carter

  2. Praising God with you for the miracles of today and trusting Him with you for the miracles needed for tomorrow and in the days to come!! Though we do not know each other, we belong to the same family of Believers and we know that we can pray to God boldly and ask Him to heal your son, Brent. I am upholding you in prayer and know that as God has done for us in our own circumstances, He will give you the strength you need. May God bless you with peace and strength and that you will be able to get the rest you need tonight, knowing that God holds your son in the palm of His hand!

  3. Scot, Carolyn, Harvey, Maggie, & Nadine... We are happy to hear that Brent's progress is slowly improving, and that his latest surgery was successful. We can't even begin to imagine what you have been through, and, what the coming weeks & months will bring. But the Lord knows what lies ahead, so be assured that He will carry you all through this valley. We are all praying for Brent's complete recovery, and for increased strength & faith for all of you. Your family holds a special place in our hearts, as you've all been very special to our families for many years. Love & prayers from Dan & Bonnie.
PS/ If there's anything that we can do to help in the coming weeks, please let us know.

  4. "Peace is not the absence of trouble.
Peace is the Presence of God"

  5. Carolyn and family;
It was last fall that we spent long, agonizing days in the ICU and said the painful good bye to our daughter Noelle as she went home to be with Jesus. I know no two situations are the same, but I want you to know that I do understand much of what you feel. I also want you to know that I have found my Lord to be my Faithful and True companion through this time, He has never once let go of me or my family. And He will also be your Comforter and Peace as you turn to Him.
We are praying for Brent's healing with you. Give yourself a hug from me.
    Love, Holly McHolm
