There is still uncertainty in the air as Brent preps for the big surgery ahead this week. The medical team trying to organize and get a surgery date confirmed. Brently is receiving excellent care from the ICU staff and is in good hands. Once again the biggest concern is the blood pressure as the medical team would like to see it come lower. Ms. Fournier brought a sign for him today that says,"Parking only for Manchester United fans"- that should help bring down the pressure.
Some remarkable experiences shared today in the ICU 'penthouse' where Brent is living at the moment. When Scot was with a sleeping Brently this afternoon, suddenly Brent jolted awake. He somehow communicated to his Dad that he had a nightmare about the accident. Later on, Scot and Carolyn (Cary) were with Brent reminiscing about camping - one of their responsibilities was to bring the mennonite farmer's sausage. Sounds like they have great food at their campouts. They noticed that Brent was tearing up and crying. Communication is still somewhat a barrier, but it was clear to them what Brent was saying. 'Little man' of courage said, "I miss Katie."
Mom and Dad went on to share that they had Katie's memorial service on dvd for him and when he was ready he could watch the service. They also shared some other details of what happened with Katie. Brent was asked if he wanted pictures of Katie up on the wall and he answered, "yes." Brent understands fully that Katie is in a better place. While he's dealing with his injuries he's also grieving the loss of his sister. This is alot to handle for someone who is almost fifteen. Remarkably, this experience brought some healing to Brent, Scot and Carolyn (Cary). Yes, we all miss Katie.
Pray for:
- physical and emotional healing for Brent
- the nightmares that Brent is having to stop
- wisdom for the Regina General medical team
- wisdom, strength and encouragment for Scot and Carolyn (Cary)
- the upcoming surgery - that all will go well
- healing for the aorta
Thank you for your support and prayers.
Keep hoping.Keep loving.Keep praying.

ReplyDeleteOur thoughts and prayers continue for you all. May Brent rest assured that Katie is in the hands of her heavenly Father.
We will continue to journey with you and pray for the medical team's wisdom and Brent's full recovery.
Brent you have gone through so much and you still keep going - you are my inspiration bud. It's okay to miss Katie. We always talk about things we did with Katie or what she would be saying in a particular situation; sometimes we cry cause it's too hard to understand. She was a precious sister and friend - even if she did drive us all crazy sometimes!! Our emotions are a gift from God and there's a reason we have them all. Don't be afraid to cry or laugh or just remember the normal days with Katie. Just remember that you WILL get to see her again - that's the awesome part.
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait to see you each week - you keep us going! Catch you soon:)

As a parent, my heart aches whenever I read the updates about Brent. I pray today for wisdom and skill for the doctors; comfort, peace and strength for Scot and Cary; healing and physical comfort for Brent; and above all that God's name be glorified.
ReplyDeleteAs Christians, we claim the promise of God to his people in Jeremiah 31:3-4 - "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness. I will build you up again and you will be rebuilt. Again you will ake up your tambourines and go out to dance with the joyful."

Happy b-bay Brent YOUR FRIEND BRANTFORD
