Brent had a temper tantrum. Brent was so frustrated with taking so long to walk, that he was still in bed, and that he couldn't get comfortable.

Feeling Lousy

Brent Prayer Alert

Brent started feeling nauseated yesterday after Physio and he is now on antibiotics and saline. He has a temperature of 39+ degrees. Please pray that the temperature and his body will recuperate fully.

Almost walking

Brent chose a verse for today. "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you" Deut 31:6.
He had another verse taped to his bed which was "Life will at times be difficult, often it is painful, and for now it is imperfect. But still it is good, for in all these things nothing can separate us from God’s lavish expressions of love" (Rom. 8:39).

Carolyn (Cary) is feeling a bit better but she still needs to get rid of her cold. Please continue to pray. Thanks.

After Physio Brent, Mom and Dad went to visit Kim and Neil (Outpatient physio on 4B at Regina General). Brent hadn't seen them since he finished with the tilt table.

Day 207 and finally standing

Brent was at Physio on 5A and he stood up for a couple of minutes. Long time since last time standing. Way to go Brent!!!!!

PS: Please pray that Brent will have strength and the stamina to get up again the rest of this week. Please also pray for Carolyn as she is feeling sick and went to the house early today to rest and get better.

Brent was standing up for a couple of minutes on his own but he had very little help. By the end of the week he will hopefully be able to do this all on his own.

Day 199 - Rider blowout

Of course we are not bragging but Winnipeg should be very embarrased (right Uncle Rob & Auntie Susan).The facts are that we gave a little amount of mercy but then it wasn't very interesting so we had no choice to pour on the Rider Pride and Power.We make the whole province of Saskatchewan once again believe that there is nothing that our Riders can't do.

Day 195 - 2 steps forward & 1 step back

Last night Brent had a NG (nasogastric) tube inserted in his nose. This is to help with his throwing up and relieves the pressure on his stomach. He will have a PIC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line inserted in his right arm tomorrow morning and once again will be on TPN (Total parenteral nutrition) for a few days till he gets his strenght caught up.

Please pray for Brent's PIC line and myself as I am writing an exam from 9:00 till 11:00 tomorrow. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Brent Prayer Alert

Brent was awake all night last night because he is still throwing up. The doctors are trying to figure out what is wrong and why Brent is throwing up. Cary was called back to the hospital and is getting very tired. Please pray for us both that we (Carolyn and Scot) will have our strength renewed.

DAY 190 - FRIDAY FRUSTRATION

Hey everyone,

Brent had a bit of a rough night. The back spasms are continuing and at times are very uncomfortable. Brent is receiving extra medication this morning to help him through the pain. He is also receiving one unit (339 ml) of blood.

The family is grateful for your support and encouraging notes. Carolyn (Cary) stayed the night with Brent in the hospital. Pray for the pain in his back to ease so Brent can start his physio.

Brent is trying to relax and rest.

Scot and Carolyn (Cary) are doing an fantastic job being committed to the care of their son. Pray for Scot and Carolyn (Cary) as they take care of Brent and also take care of other life challenges. Carolyn (Cary) is still going to physio. Scot (this upcoming week) is taking care of some of the things at their home in Saskatoon and with his job.

BRENT'S IN ALOT OF PAIN...........DAY 189

Hey everyone,

Thank you for your ongoing prayers. Brent returned to his room around 3 p.m. Brent continues to overcome the obstacles he's been facing this year. Today, another milestone was reached as the operation on Brent's back was successful.

Brent is strong and facing the pain with great determination. Here are some more details about today:

• pray for protection for Brent's body - there is a risk of infection
• Brent threw up tonight and generally is not feeling well
• there is considerable amount of pain in Brent's back and he's having moments of being uncomfortable
• Brent is also experiencing strong back spasms
• pray that he will have a long, sound sleep tonight
• pray that he will be ready to do physio

The staff at Regina General are incredible and the Peterson family is grateful for their efforts. Brent's vitals are doing great and his attitude is very positive. We give thanks to God for guiding and being with this family.

SURGERY 44 ..THE HEALING CONTINUES

Hi everyone,

Brent came out of surgery fourty four at approximately 12:45 p.m. Doctor reported that everything went well. The procedure went great and as expected. Here are a few details:

• the lump located on his back was taken out
• scar tissue was cleaned out
• with the assistance of a neuro navigation system the medical team did an outstanding job
• two rods were placed in the lower area of his back (T12 and L1)
• four screws were put in place (screws are 45 mm in length x 5 mm in width)
• pulse during surgery was consistent and steady
• Brent is in recovery and there are some pain issues

The procedure took longer than expected, but with great results. Brent will be back in his room sometime today.

Brent is in pain - please pray for a quick and smooth recovery.
