ROUGH START TO NEW WEEK

Last Sunday, Brent's cousin Pamela and her boyfriend, Joe came to say a quick hello to Brent. Rob and Lois (Brent's aunt and uncle), the Andreae family came to visit the Peterson's as well. Brent was well enough to see these family and friends for a few moments (please note: visiting for Brent is still being restricted - if you go to visit, please understand if you are not able to see Brent). Starting last Monday, Brent is having a rough beginning to this new week.

Brent is experiencing the following:
  • nightmares that are jolting him awake
  • vomiting - yesterday (Tuesday) was especially rough as he threw up several times
  • Brent doesn't want Mom and Dad to leave
  • his healing from the last major surgery ( two weeks ago) is very slow

Good news - there was a special chair brought in for Brent and he was able to sit in it yesterday for almost ninety minutes. Finally, a little bit of variety for Brent.

Thank you for your prayers for this family.

Keep hoping.Keep loving.Keep praying.

I pray now to our gracious father to come and fill you with the Holy Spirit, to comfort you when you are scared, to give you abundant faith and to take away any fear, to vanish those nightmares and to give you complete 100% healing.
To Scott and Carolyn, you have been so strong throughout and I pray for you both to continue trusting the Lord, listen to Him and be guided.

  8. Hey Brent..sorry to hear you're having sort of a crappy start to the week. Being nauseous/vomiting is an awful feeling. Hope it goes away soon, your nightmares fade and you get some much needed rest.

I know you're a big soccer fan but when you're in Regina, you really have to play the part of a Rider fan. Rest up and get better because the season starts soon...hopefully you can tune in on TV or radio.

I hope your mom and dad are doing well. There are so many people in Regina (and all over the place) thinking about you guys all the time.

As always, thanks to Pastor Rob for keeping us all updated.

Stay strong. Rest well. You guys are most definitely not alone in this journey.

  10. Bubs,
    Auntie loves and misses you.
I'm sad that you've been feeling nauseated. I will pray even more fervently that those feelings will go away, and that you will feel good as God continues to heal you! I will also pray that those nightmares will be gone! And that you will only have sweet, peaceful dreams from now on. Oh Brent, You are loved so much, by so many people...even complete strangers!!
I wish I was there right now to sit with you and rub your legs (Bumma told me you liked that), and tell you stories, and tell you in person how proud I am of you and how much I love you. But since I can't be there just yet, this little note will have to do for now.
ps-did your Mom tell you the toenail story yet from when you were about 2 years old? Oh, you made this auntie laugh....xoxoxox
Love always and hugs across the miles.

  11. Brent,
We are thinking of you always, and we also hate nightmares, before you go to bed think of something you love and makes you happy...like soccer, or hats and gum.

  14. Hey Brent, I feel for you. I used to have horrible, terrifying nightmares due to a childhood trauma and finally when I was 10 I refused to go to sleep, sat huddled on my bed and prayed and prayed and prayed to God, begging really, that they would stop. That night I finally fell asleep and have not had a nightmare of that magnitude or anywhere close since *and now I'm 33. I will pray that yours will go away as well. It isn't a fun place to be when in our subconscious things are trying to work themselves out, and we have no control, especially when sleep is such a necessary thing at this time.
Know you are thought of, prayed for and in my families minds daily.
