BRENT HAS FOUND HIS VOICE!

Terrific news from Regina General today:
  • Brent's trach has been out now for over 24 hours and everything is going great
  • Where the trach was located they have placed "tape" to help the incision there to grow together
  • Brent is taking his medications orally now
  • the heart monitors and other machines have now been taken out of the room
  • he is having a much better today than yesterday
  • his sleep pattern is a little messed up but he's getting rest
  • Grandma Peterson cut his hair today and he looks as handsome as ever
  • Cousin Vic came for a visit
  • his sats are at 100 %
  • his blood pressure is great
  • he continues to do his physio
  • he wants his blue jello
  • went for surgery 36 and everything went fine

The best thing today - he's talking (all because the trach is now gone). He's having conversations with his mom and dad now. He's able to communicate about pain or what he wants to try to eat. Mom feels bad about eating her food in front of him so she often ate in the waiting room - today Brently told her stay and eat her food in the room. Some nurses came by to see him and when they left, Brent said to them, "I love you". How good it must feel after 119 days to be able to talk again and communicate clearly.

Please continue to pray for full healing for Brent. We give thanks to Jesus for guiding this family through his Holy Spirit.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers.

Keep hoping.Keep loving.Keep praying.

  9. Wow Brent you're doing SO amazingly great!!!! I couldn't be anymore proud of you! It's nice having the trache out, hey? Keep going! You'll be out of that decorated hospital room in no time! I'm working on getting you some Converse shoes. Well, additions to your moon shoes. Those are pretty nice, but I think some Converse would be better.

We've been continuing in prayer and checking these updates as often as we can. My family (Funks) have endured a couple of losses, recently, so we're all to aware how precious the gift of life is.

  24. I have never met you but have been following your story since the accident. The first thing that I do when I come to work is check the blog to see how you are doing and I always check before the end of the day to see if anything has changed.

When you hear of accidents happening you never get to hear what happens afterward and I believe that when others read about your strength and your journey they are going to be able be just are strong as you have been.

I am so happy that you are feeling better, keep up the good work!
