When you are a patient in ICU (intensive care unit) you have injuries or conditions that are quite severe or extreme. When people recover in ICU it can be an emotional rollercoaster ride for relatives and friends. Some days are can be really good and others are really bad.
The last two days Brent was showing signs of great progress and healing. These were great days of Brent responding to his Mom and Dad and doing well.
It is with great concern that I let you know that Brent took a turn for the worst last night. Around 11:45 Brent was bleeding and the doctors were called in to operate. The surgery lasted for five and a half hours.
Around 5:30 a.m. I received a phone call from Scot. Brent's injuries are extreme (which we already knew) so every moment counts. The unfortunate news is that Brent has developed an infection around his aorta. The doctors and nurses are doing their best but this development was a surprise. The next few hours Brent needs a miracle to happen.
We are asking you to pray without ceasing for healing. The hours ahead are critical. Pray for:
- The infection to go away
- healing so there would be no more bleeding
- the aorta area to be healed
- Scot and Carolyn (Cary) - this is a difficult journey for them
We don't understand the "why" of everything. Let us not go there. Let us trust and believe.
Scot and Carolyn (Cary) thank you for your prayers and for your love
Rob,
ReplyDeleteThank you for being in Regina and voicing the needs of the Peterson's. As the Chaplain of the Care Home where Carolyn works, I know these blog updates have been very helpful to all of us.
We continually pray for Brent's immediate and complete healing, as well as for Scot and Carolyn in this dire time for their family. If there is anything else we can do to support them, please let us know.
Psalm 46:1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult.”
Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
Blessings,
Rob
Scot, Cari & Brent, we love you so much and are praying every moment for you all. Know that we are here for whatever you need and/or want.

This is not typical of me -- last night, everytime I woke up during the night, I found myself praying for Brent. That has to be a God thing because I sure didn't know Brent's situation.
ReplyDeleteOur God is all-mighty and all powerful! Believing with you and praying with you!
