BRENT'S A CHAMPION

The following quote comes from a letter from one of Brent's teachers at Lestor B. Pearson school:

"Consider this:
Your heavenly Father spoke the galaxies into existence.
Your elder brother Jesus defeated the enemy.

Think about some of your natural ancestors:

Moses parted the Red Sea. There's a great faith in your bloodline.

David, a shepherd boy, defeated Goliath with only a few pebbles he picked up from a brook. There is courage in your bloodline.

Samson toppled a building. There's a supernatural strength in your bloodline.

Daniel spent an entire night in a lion's den and wasn't harmed. Divine protection flows through your bloodline.

Nehemiah rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem when all the odds were against him.
Determination and persistence pulsate through your bloodline.

Queen Esther put her life on the line to save God's people. Sacrifice and heroism are in your bloodline.

These are not random names from the Bible; they are part of an unbroken lineage of faith that comes down to your life.

You come from a bloodline of champions. You are not ordinary; you are a thoroughbred. It doesn't matter what your present condition looks like; you need to know that inside you flows the blood of a winner. On the inside of you are seeds of greatness. On the inside of you is champion after champion."

The letter goes on to say: "....you can overcome this adversity, Brent. There's power in your spiritual bloodline. Believe in it. Today, at LBP, we are having a hat and gum day in your honor. I keep wanting to tell the boys to take off their hats! It's just habit for a teacher to do that. The kids love these hat and gum days. Almost every single child has a hat on and is smacking away on gum! Too funny!
...sending positive thoughts and prayer your way daily...

Teacher Librarian @ LBP

The last couple of days Brent is battling nightmares and blood pressure is fluctuating too much. Pray that these nightmares will go away and for consistent blood pressure. We believe in you, Brent! You're a champion!

  11. Scot, Carolyn and Brent, I'm so glad that these words were able to bring you some peace. Thank-you so much for sharing them with us to help spread their comfort throughout the healing community that follows this blog. My heart goes out to you as you try to help Brent through these latest struggles that cannot be fixed with a ventilator, medication or another surgery. This must be hard for all of you.

Brent, my man, listen to Mrs. K's words and try to find some peace within them. You WILL overcome this! Keep believing in your strength! I (and many more) believe in you. Tonight, I send you courage, peace and sweet dreams! Love you lots!

  13. Praying for continued strength of body, mind and spirit. As we read these daily blogs about Brent's slow and painful recovery, we pray for him but also remember daily your grieving for Katie. May the Lord give you more strength than you could ever imagine and peace on the journey.

  14. The previous quote on the blog in my letter to Brent, were actually quotes that I took from the writing of Joel Osteen, author of Daily Readings from BECOME A BETTER YOU (90 Devotions for Improving Your Life Every Day). I used to frequently refer to these inspirational examples from the Biblical past for my own muse, but more and more, since the accident in Feb. think of Brent while I am reading over them.

Keep thinking positive thoughts, Brent. Visualize yourself doing the things you love to do, keep moving forward. You will overcome these medical difficulties. Trust in the medical staff, trust that God is taking care of you. What you have already overcome is amazing. You really are a champion!

You are always in our thoughts and prayers,
    Irene Kindrachuk

The message from Irene was great. Encouraging to us all.

The Lord is your strength and your shield.

"Fear not for I am with you.
Be not dismayed, for I AM YOUR GOD.
    I will strengthen you!
    I will help you!
    I will uphold you
    with my VICTORIOUS right hand!

  22. Hello to the Peterson family. I have never posted before and for that I am sorry. This is going to be a long post and I hope I don't bore you. I saw the accident shortly after it happened and knew that something tragic must have happened. I have been following your story from the day it started and I want you to know that soooo many people are pulling for you and your family even though you don't know us. Brent I want you to know that me and several others in my community wait with baited breath to see how you and your mom and dad are doing. This is only my belief but I believe that yes, there is a heavenly God and Katie is there with himand you looking down on you and your family. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we are mortal beings and have to stay here on earth to fullfill our obligations to him before we go to the eternal gardens of heaven, therefore, we all need you to conquer the physical which you have shown that you can do and will do. Your mom and dad and everyone else that loves you need your strength and physical being because after all, it is not our choosing as to when it is our time to go. Maybe unbeknownst to us, your struggles are helping you and your mom and dad cope with the loss of Katie. Everything happens for a reason, and that reason may not be too clear right now. I know, I lost a young person to me under very tragic circumstances and that was 9 years ago and me and my family still struggle to find meaning in it. I believe Brent that you are an amazing young person who will not only overcome your unbelievable physical restraints but will be there to guide you and your parents through their grief but also will show the many friends and schoolmates a compassion and determination that they would never would have had otherwise. You and your family are truly amazing and Brent, I know that you are going to conquer this horrible adversity because you have a lot to teach all of the other young people here what is truly important. I want nothing but the best for you and your family and I pray for you every day. Michelle from Saskatoon.
